Submission Types

IFERA 2015 Regional Forum welcomes a varied and wide range of submissions to create a vibrant conference environment among family business scholars.

Three scholarly submissions will be accepted (All submissions require a 200 word abstract): 

Full Paper (FP)

Full Paper (FP) is a submission of a finished product - an original completed research manuscript that is ready for peer review. FP submissions will be assessed according to a double blind process with at least two reviewers. Only FPs are eligible for Best Regional Forum Paper Awards and if your submission is under consideration for such, you will be required to declare its originality.

Length: Maximum 35 pages including references, tables and figures

Work in Progress (WIP)

Work in Progress (WIP) is a submission of a well developed original idea that is not yet completed. WIP submissions include at a minimum the research question, preliminary literature review, conceptual/theoretical framework, methodology (if relevant) and its contribution to theory and practice.

WIP submissions will be evaluated for their potential and promise according to a double blind process with at least two reviewers.

Length: A maximum of 7 pages; that is, 5 pages for the body which can include charts, graphs, diagrams, etc. and up to 2 pages of references. 

 

It is also possible to present under this category:

 

Extended Abstracts. Is a submission of a original idea in development that is not yet completed. This kind of submissions include at a minimum the research question, preliminary literature reviewed at the moment, conceptual/theoretical framework, methodology (if relevant).

 

Length: A maximum of 6 pages; that is, 3 or 4 pages for the body which can include charts, graphs, diagrams, etc. and up to 2 pages of references

 

Family Business Case. It is a presentation of a real experience of a family business. The presentation should include the Teaching Note developed for the case, which must include the theoretical framework for the analysis of the case.

 

Extension: A maximum of 40 pages for the Case and 20 pages for the Teaching Note.

 

Originality Defined:
IFERA 2015 Regional Forum will include only original, unpublished work for two submission types: FP and WIP.If your submission (FP or WIP) is identical or substantially similar to work that was already published; submitted, under review, accepted or presented via another conference or publication, please submit it under the following submission category of RD.

Research Dissemination (RD)

Research Dissemination (RD) is a submission of a manuscript that has already been submitted, under review, accepted or presented at a different forum such as a conference or a workshop or a manuscript that has already been published by the authors but needs to be disseminated to the IFERA. The purpose of RD submissions is to provide access to IFERA attendees to research that may not have received a wide audience and yet holds promise for the development of the field. RD submissions will be assessed by the 2015 Forum Team.

Length: A maximum limit of 10 pages or 5000 words all inclusive.  

 

Paper presentation format

Upon completion of peer review, if your submission is selected for inclusion in the regional forum, you will be notified with the decision on the presentation format of your submission. Submissions will be presented in a formal presentation, posters or discussion sessions.

Revisions

All submissions are deemed as final after the deadline of September 1, 2015. Therefore the following will not be accepted after the deadline.

  • No rewrites.
  • No additional authors.
  • No changes to titles, abstracts, or the order of authors.
  • Before the deadline, you can delete a submission you have made and resubmit it in a changed form if you so choose.

 

 Availability to Present at Regional Forum

  • Authors whose submission is accepted by the review committee, will be expected to present at any time between 08:00 to 17:00 on November 11th and Novembre 12th.  In addition, please make sure that at least one of the co-authors is available to present before making your submission.  This will help us plan and avoid deletion of papers from the Regional Forum.

  • Submission of your work to the Regional Forum is considered a commitment by the authors that at least one of the author will attend and present the paper, in the event it is accepted. Please also review the section about "original submission."

  • We will notify all papers about their status (i.e. accept/reject) by September 18th. However, reviews of the papers will only be sent after at least one of the authors has registered for the regional forum. Our system will conduct a sweep once a week, and deliver reviews to the authors who have registered during the week.

  • Registration will only be transferable among multiple authors of the same paper.

  • Once registration has been received, all cancellation policies will apply. Please review the cancellation policies before registering for the Regional Forum.
